Hardyston Township Adopts Resolution in Support of C.L.E.A.R.

On Wednesday, May 25, 2016, Hardyston Township adopted a resolution to support the Sussex County C.L.E.A.R. Program.
Addiction
Addiction is the most severe form of substance use disorder, associated with compulsive or
uncontrolled use of one or more substances and is defined as a chronic brain disease that has
the potential for both recurrence (relapse) and recovery. Use of opioids, including heroin and prescription medication, causes a physical dependence characterized by withdrawal symptoms when stopped. There are many evidence-based approaches that can be effective in treating addiction.
Recovery
Over 23 million Americans are currently living in long-term recovery from substance use disorders, and there are many pathways to long-term recovery where individuals can improve their lives and overall health and wellness. Recovery coaches can have an important role in the continuum of care by helping to initiate steps toward recovery and offering support to maintain long-term recovery.
Community
The current heroin epidemic has affected our community in many ways and C.L.E.A.R. strives to collaborate with individuals, professionals, organizations, and treatment providers to offer a multi-faceted approach in order to reverse the negative trends seen throughout the county.
Law Enforcement
Law Enforcement Officers see firsthand the devastation caused by drug addiction. While Police across Sussex County remain steadfast in their commitment to enforce the law and prosecute crimes, they are also dedicated to saving lives through the use of Narcan and improving the overall quality of life for everyone by helping to provide a clear opportunity for recovery from addiction to those who seek assistance, without fear of arrest or prosecution.
